JJimmy Pursey – Sham 69. December 1978
Driving back from a gig in Hastings, Jimmy Pursey leapt out of the van to sign his mark on a motorway sign. In July, The Sham 69 single ‘The Kids are United’ reached number 9 in the UK charts. This single expressed Pursey’s anti-racism stance as he tried to be an ameliorating bridge between punks and his young neo-Nazi fans.
