The debut studio album, The Clash, was recorded over three weekend sessions and released in April 1977. The front cover was an image of the band taken by photographer Kate Simon. The back cover was a photograph, taken by Rocco Macaulay of the 1976 Noting Hill Carnival riot that was the inspiration for the song ‘White Riot’.
