The Clash planned to let the Banshees use their equipment but when manager Bernard Rhodes saw Siouxsie’s swastika arm band, which she refused to remove, they withdrew their consent. At the time Rhodes explained to me his distain for “glib shock”. He said: “People can do what they want. But we don’t think the swastika means anything relevant to us”.
