Welcome to The Centre for British Photography (Registered Charity Number 1190955).
The charity was established in 2020 to promote and support photography in Britain in all its diversity. It aims to facilitate the work of contemporary artists, fund research and scholarship, and address issues of legacy and the preservation of archives.
In January 2023 the charity opened a large gallery space in central London, to support photography in Britain. The aim of the centre for British Photography is to host exhibitions curated both internally and also independently by outside curators and institutional partners. It will also administer and provide access to the renowned Hyman Collection of British photography.
The Centre for British Photography is committed to ensuring that its Trustees and Advisory Group are inclusive. It therefore welcomes applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. Applications from those from an ethnic minority background are particularly encouraged. All appointments will be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process. In line with the Equality Act 2010, however, we may employ positive action where candidates from underrepresented groups can demonstrate their ability to perform the role equally well.
Please do contact us if you would like to collaborate or support our activities or would be interested in becoming a Trustee or Advisor.
Details of our grants programme will be announced shortly.

- Mentoring for younger and mid-career artists to advise on their careers, consider legacy issues, and encourage best practice for archiving their work.
- Working with later career artists to help preserve, archive and digitize photographic work for future heritage.
- Research grants for art historical scholarship

Establish and maintain an archive, collection and library of historical and contemporary photographs.
3.
Form partnerships with other arts organizations, including Universities, to provide a hub for British photography past, present and future.
