David Moore

David Moore's central theme is power, its structures and institutions.

In early colour works from the later 1980s, notably the series, Pictures of the Real World (1988) that dates from the year of his graduation from West Surrey College of Art and Design, Farnham, Moore addressed those without power. The subjects are parents, children and domestic settings recorded with sensitivity but also a certain detachment. However, since then Moore's most celebrated bodies of work have used a dramatic immediacy to address power: The Commons(2004) provides striking details of Parliamentary power, whilst recent series such as The Last Things (2008) and 28 Days (2009) focus on national defence and security.
