Dafydd Jones

The pictures in the Hyman Collection mainly come from his important period working for The Tatler in the 1980s. Jones was originally hired by Tina Brown in 1981 to photograph hunt Balls, debutante dances and weddings for the Tatler magazine. Under Mark Boxer the style of social pictures in the magazine developed into an irrerevant but affectionate portrait of english social life.

Dafydd has been a contracted photographer at the Tatler, Vanity Fair, the New York Observer, the Sunday Telegraph , The Times and Independent . As a sign of the turbulence in newspapers he's managed to be 'sacked' by the Telegraph 4 times under different regimes. He has also worked for several magazines and websites that have ended as spectacular failures including Talk magazine, Connoisseur magazine and peoplenews.com.
